How to create an online presence when you don’t have much time
Every person is a brand in some way, presenting an image of ourselves to the world. Most will have an online presence in either a minimal or prolific way. If you want to spread the word about yourself or your other brands, you may consistently share content to maintain awareness and conversions. How can we publish online when we feel time-poor? Here are some ways.
Get mobile apps for content
If you’re out and don’t have a computer with you, some mobile apps could help to get something done. You could create, schedule and publish content on your phone. I’m a fan of the iPhone apps for Canva, Snapseed, Pixlr and PS Express.
Carry a lightweight laptop when appropriate
My new Macbook Pro was one of the best decisions I made in 2022. When I go for a night away, I can effortlessly take it with my luggage. I even simply bring this laptop to the back yard to get more fresh air and sunlight when I work. Then I don’t have to choose between nature and the to-do-list (although balance and mindful breaks are important too).
If you mainly write and want a bargain, look for a basic netbook sort of computer. The point is to find something that does enough and isn’t too heavy or bulky.
Work on a tablet
I personally don’t currently use a tablet but those devices could get some of the job done. Use whatever feels right to spread your message.
Create when waiting
We all have bits of spare time when waiting for something - at the bus stop, at a table of a cafe or restaurant, If you had enough of mindfully people-watching, get your gadget and make a bit of something. You don’t have to complete a whole project or even part of it. Just make what you can in the moment you are in and continue soon.
Create when commuting
If you’re on public transport, find a corner away from curious eyes or make content that isn’t too confidential. It is in public after all. But you can make and publish something when catching the train, bus or ferry. This is about balance again. It’s great to look out the window or generally observe the world. But some of the trip could be dedicated to publishing a quick post.
Set aside a short session
Any time is better than no time. If you get a whole hour of break, eat lunch for half an hour and then create for half an hour. Or maybe you have an hour or a few to chill at the end of the day. It’s normal to want a relaxed unwind. But at least a portion of that part of the schedule could be dedicated to creating and publishing.
