Wellness goals for 2024
Get inspired by these goals to feel better in 2024. Anyone can pursue wellness for the gut, career, social life or soul. These resources will help.
As we move further from the wild times of a few years ago, we face challenges and opportunities for growth.
I’m more of a follower of meal-prep recipes and yogic teachers than an expert in anything relating to wellness. However, after following the leaders for a while, I can point you in the direction of wise ones and useful products.
Health Goals
Pursue Gut Health
You can be guided by the teachings of plant-based gastroenterologists like Dr Alan Desmond and Dr Will Bulsiewicz. Dr. B encourages people to eat diverse plants. The usual lifestyle choices, like stress reduction, also feel right.
A Better Mind
Nurture your brain with ideas from doctors Ayesha and Dean Sherzai. This pair shares frameworks and apps for an overall lifestyle change.
Along with eating more plants, you can stay mentally alert with solo and social activities. Try some puzzles. Get the family away from their screens by playing road trip games.
Longevity
Look to the Blue Zones and Dan Buettner. You can learn more about this concept on Netflix and in the Blue Zones books.
People who live longer particularly eat an abundance of legumes/pulses, purple sweet potatoes, and other whole plants. There are other ways to encourage a longer, healthier life. Connect with community, higher purpose, and meaningful work. Stay active in fun ways.
Home-grown food can become meaningful. You can grow mushrooms, vegetables, fruits, and herbs. You can even set up an Airgarden.
Personally, when I feel exhausted from life’s responsibilities, I can at least choose what goes on my plate. Veggies won’t exactly make me feel worse. So that's my favourite way to get back on track.
Self-Care
Relaxation
If you have the space and quietness to follow a meditation app, get started with one now. There’s Calm, Headspace, Insight Timer… plenty. I prefer to practice mindful techniques away from home and with other people. The groups in dedicated spaces help me to focus.
You can bring scents into your at-home routine. Try the oils and other aromatherapy solutions from ECO. Modern Essentials, In Essence, and Oil Garden.
Continuous Learning
Prioritising your growth, you can then give more to the people around you. You could participate in a formal course or a community group that focuses on personal or professional development.
I continue to believe in the power of practising public speaking. The transferable skills become relevant to podcasts, presentations and conversations.
Be Social and Get Outside
We can feel better when seeing friends and experiencing nature. Have a splash at the beach. Walk around the trees. Sip coffee with people. Appreciate the simple things.
