High-protein, whole-plant-based party snacks

Nourishing snacks can bring fresh life to a party. These options can be great fun during New Year’s Eve and other summer celebrations.

Hummus

Make your own hummus, or buy a tub of the dip.

White bean guacamole

Blend white beans with some guacamole to boost the protein of a party favourite. Add plenty of lemon for enough zing.

Taco roasted chickpeas

Coat chickpeas in olive oil and taco seasoning. Roast these beans on a tray in the oven until they are crispy. Check the progress every 5-10 minutes to make sure they don’t burn.

Tempeh skewers

Marinade tempeh chunks and barbeque them on skewers. The texture will be delightful.

Seitan tacos

Shred seitan and fry it in a pan, perhaps with sliced mushroom and onion. Enjoy this mixture inside tacos with your favourite fresh veggies.

Black bean quesadilla slices

Mash black beans and other veggies in a pan. Fill the hot ingredients in tortillas with a creamy ingredient such as avocado, cashew cheese, or a veg-based cheesy sauce.

Chickpea pulse pasta salad

Choose a combination of pulse pasta and wholemeal pasta. Spirals or penne can be useful for a pasta salad.
