This food hack will change your summer. As the cost of groceries seems overwhelming and we become more conscious of waste, this tasty treat will have a surprisingly simple ingredient.
The ingredient that transformed my scrambled tofu
I had a set way I liked my homemade scrambled tofu until I experimented with this one product. I previously emphasised intense tomato paste and balsamic vinegar. Then, I mixed a different ingredient through the soft soy for a dramatically different feel. This vegan scramble felt as eggy as possible without adding black salt, which could be included when available. This meal is dairy-free, egg-free and only made with plants. It’s great for anyone who is lactose-intolerant, avoiding these products for ethical reasons or simply for personal preference. It also tastes great.
Accidentally vegan snacks you probably already eat
Vegan-friendly foods can be mainstream, accessible ingredients. They don’t always have to be specialist, processed products. Here are some plant-based foods you likely eat anyway.

Food for wellness
Whole plants are great for everyone - whether you are omnivorous, vegan or somewhere in-between. Of course, I would applaud the sustainable ethical results if everyone would exclusively eat plants. It would fit my own personal value system. But let’s be realistic. Humanity is diverse. Meet people where they are, as the saying goes. Wherever you are on the food spectrum, I feel sure that extra plants could make a difference. Vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, seeds, herbs… it’s all good.
Meals and snacks that are cheap as chickpeas
Particular foods are becoming increasingly expensive. Meanwhile, other groceries are comparatively affordable. I pressure cooked my chickpeas on the weekend in preparation for a variety of treats. They are just some of the nutritious ingredients I meal-prep on a regular basis. Here are some meal and snack ideas that are perfect for chickpeas.
The soup or sauce ingredients that are surprisingly delicious together
This soup is delicious. It is a variation of something I made earlier, with added ingredients. The dish can be enjoyed on its own or as a sauce with something else. Taste the seasoning and adjust it to your preferences. Then the soup can feel amazing.
Healthy easy treats to make with frozen fruit
Frozen fruit is useful in its own right, even if fresh produce is preferred. Store-bought options should be frozen when fresh. It also tends to be cheaper. If you have spare fresh fruit and need to use it up, rinse and freeze it. Everyone should freeze their own ripe banana to use in smoothies and homemade sugar-free ice creams. Whether you’re saving money by shopping in the freezer section, or preventing waste by freezing your excess fruit, you can create delicious treats at home with these foods.
