The most indulgent porridge
The breakfast feels like a dessert but it is actually healthy. It’s a delicious vegan plant based meal that anyone can enjoy.
I was looking at this old photo of a ‘chocolate’ porridge. I want to indulge in so much of this hot treat in the weekend. My local area is under some cold wet weather. Although fresh air is good, I may want to warm up indoors. And cheer up in a day that isn’t offering rays of sunshine.
What do I put in my choc porridge? It’s quite simple, actually. Cook up some rolled oats as usual. Stir through cacao, peanut butter and frozen blueberries. Allow those ingredients to melt through. Pour just enough maple syrup onto this food. If you want an extra smart sweetener, find monk fruit. But I have pure maple syrup at home.
This is the perfect dessert-style breakfast. I feel ready to make it in the upcoming morning. Here are some extra benefits of the meal. It’s pretty affordable. Oats are cheap. Peanut butter is a classic staple too. I look for the jars that have only peanuts. Maybe a pinch of salt at the most. But avoid the salt if possible. Frozen blueberries are an alright deal in bulk. The recipe doesn’t need a lot of cacao. A scoop. I keep enough cacao in the cupboard and it lasts a while.
Now I’m no expert in the world of nutrition but this porridge is bursting with health benefits. Please do your own homework and don’t take my word for it. But these insights should be common knowledge. I trust peanut butter for extra protein and healthy fat. The cacao and blueberries are good for antioxidants - which are important in this era of illnesses. Oats are good for fibre and more. I generally feel more regular and light when I eat more cooked oats.
The feeling is the best part. This porridge looks like a pudding. It almost feels like it. Whatever is happening in life, have fun with food.
Peace
