Motivation: be the face of something at all.
Be the face of something. Get ready to represent the thing you care about, on any scale. Get out from your shell. Contribute to the dialogue. You can support your causes in a conversation with one person, on a stage with an audience or from the comfort of your computer. I know there is something you care about. People could benefit from your perspective. You should give people the opportunity to interact with your view of the world.
We all have something we feel strongly about, either in a calm way or with energetic enthusiasm. I care so much about food that I feel overwhelmed by my interest and passion about it. As I gradually shared more and more of my views about food, some people benefitted from it. One person asked questions about my food decisions weeks upon weeks ago. I felt grateful even for that discussion. The topic only came up because I share my ethical healthy options with a small number of online followers. That conversation only happened because I felt brave enough to share my truth. Be the face of my personal reality.
Get ready to become the face of communities too. I have mixed feelings about this but I know it will happen. People need people. Online or face-to-face, us humans need each other. People are looking for ways to connect with each other. There is a very specific type of leader who can gather like-minded individuals to form communities. When this happens, the benefits far outweigh the risks.
We can progress beyond the fear of attention by knowing why it is needed. I have recently been speaking to groups of people about one thing in reality - speaking. I talked about talking. Repeatedly. It felt good. I know for certain that someone would have learned something. I even learned more from the teachings I formed over time. To give, I needed to show up. Be the face of that service.
I want more. I want to talk in places beyond my current metaphorical training wheels. Why? I can direct my energy into talking. It feels right. We must be brave and use our voices because every voice should be heard.
