Eco and conscious events around Newcastle and Lake Macquarie for August and September 2022

Eco

I love supporting local events for conscious living. Here are some upcoming programs. Here are some events I found online.

Homegrown Markets at Speers Point Park, 21st August

Support local creator and sellers. This market had “community vibes,” according to the web site.

Repair Cafe at Warners Bay, 28th August

Fix something instead of replacing it. The most sustainable option is the thing you already have. Extend the lifespan of your clothes, furniture and more.

The Olive Tree Market, Newcastle, 3rd September

Known as “Newcastle’s Premier Art and Design Market”, there is a great variety of crafty goods along with tasty foods and entertainment. It’s

Chemical CleanOut, Belmont, 3rd September

This waste-reducing event is hosted by the council of Lake Macquarie. See the local government information for more details. Safely get rid of hazardous materials.

Op-Shop Emporium, Wallsend Library, 17th September

Newcastle Libraries announced, “you can listen in on a free seminar about 'Closing the Loop' on Textile Waste.” Shop for second hand products to support the environment. When we buy used things, we reduce the amount of new items that are made. We can avoid contributing to the excessive use of resources that go into production and distribution. This event is one of many ways to sustainably shop second hand.
