Who I follow to gain confidence and courage
I feel transformed on the inside (and ready for external action) after hearing advice from leaders. Here are the people I follow to gain courage, humble confidence, motivation and strength.
Matthew Hussey
I recently became slightly addicted to the podcast episodes from Matthew Hussey. This public figure is known for giving advice about dating and relationships. Much of this guy’s wisdom could be applied to the rest of life. Here is a part of this leader’s guidance that helps me to see clearly now, “The first step to building confidence requires us to be very clear with ourselves about who we want to be, what we want to attract, and what behaviors we will and won't tolerate (both from others and from ourselves).”
Lewis Howes
I mostly knew of this podcaster as someone who shines a spotlight on other leaders. Then in my research for this piece, I found the words I needed to read. Lewis Howes shared these words on social media, “You will only be criticized by someone who isn’t achieving their goals and is taking it out on you.”
Mel Robbins
If you ever don’t feel like getting out of bed in the morning, Mel Robbins is the one you should listen to. There’s more too. I like this Dhiman quote that was shared on her Insta, “Maybe the ending was simply the beginning of something more important.”
Goodness. The universe is showering me with the words I need to hear in this moment.
Marie Forleo
The talking dancing multi-passionate Marie Forleo shares her own perspective and others too. She focuses on business and life. There’s plenty to focus on but one thing speaks to me in this moment. I currently most identify with this Eckhart Tolle quote that’s at her page on the ‘gram, “All stress is caused by being here, but wanting to be there.”
Tony Robbins
I flicked over to the Instagram account of Tony Robbins to see what he had been doing lately. That mega famous motivational leader. This quote embodied the humility that is necessary in truly great leaders, “Be a blessing to others, and your life will be blessed beyond measure.”
Despite the struggles of life, my intuition tells me to adopt an abundance mindset instead of a scarcity mindset. If I can focus on what I have instead of what I lack, then I can give to others however possible. Give time. Give advice. Give hope. Anything. In contrast, when I felt emotionally desperate just weeks ago, I rarely considered what I could do for others. But here is the reality. We get what we give. Do I believe in the exchange of energy? Or karma? There are diverse ways to explain the above view of blessing. Reminded of this reality, however it is explained, this quote is one of the reasons why Tony Robbins is great at what he does.
