A mindful practice in just minutes
Life is busy. Even if we unsubscribe from hustle culture, there is a lot happening around us - family, community, work, learning… never a dull moment. But we need to allow time for mindfulness and movement.
This morning, I needed to stretch. I could feel it. Needed it. I had just ten minutes before daily responsibilities. So I made the most of those precious moments.
I also wanted fresh air. It makes a difference. Yoga outside? It’s a pretty good ideal. I was lucky enough to use the back yard before any rain began.
Did I need a yoga mat? I brought my bagged cork mat outside. But the towel was enough on the grass. As I don’t have a covered area outside, I need to only bring my Macbook out in the best possible weather. Just in case. Do not get rain on the new computer. I should get a tablet for purposes like this…
I searched on Youtube for 10 minute morning yoga. It was that simple. Dirty feet, simple retro towel and mindful yoga practice. The simple things feel good.
I felt some discomfort as I was out of practice. Those physical feelings were telling me something. Get back into a routine. Hopefully I should be able to clear space in a room and continue some yoga on the rainy days.
This simple story teaches an important lesson. Allow time and space for mindful practice.
