Why I bring my laptop to the beach and the park
Here is a hint at the answer. I am not trying to be a stereotypical laptop lifestyle personality or a workaholic. It is more than that. I can experience more focus and creativity in a natural calm environment.
At the right time on the weekend, when my immediate responsibilities quietened, I brought my laptop to a park near the beach. This simple decision made a difference. I should do it more often. I might become that lady who sits outside with a computer. Ok, maybe not. But it was so good, I know I did the right thing.
My creative interests are diverse. I am part of the way through writing a couple of books. I also enjoy experimenting with meaningful messages for social media. Meanwhile, I am exploring opportunities that could connect me with more people. That all brings me to the computer a lot.
So I recently spent more time sitting at my desk in the big home office. Did I solve all of my life’s problems? No. Did I progress further to my goals? A little bit. However, I felt isolated and anxious in that space.
That is why I made a change on Saturday. I sat on a patch of grass in the park, near the breeze of the beach, and wrote. Created. It didn’t have to be the next masterpiece of any sort. Just make anything. Focus. Away from the chores of the house, away from the distractions of life.
I believe in the importance of fresh air. People spend too much time under air conditioning in this modern time. Sitting in the shade on a day of decent weather, I could properly breathe and focus.
This one simple change made a slight difference in my life. Anyone can try it.
