Quotes about creativity
We all create something. Or we all can make something. However creativity looks for you, a few inspirational quotes can provide powerful motivation.
I brought these quotes together because we don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Inspiration can emerge from within. Inspiration can also find its way to us.
Vulnerability and creativity
Brene Brown said, “vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change.”
We need to be vulnerable to really create something innovative and make change. What more is there to say? If you want to delve deeper into the world of vulnerability, learn from Brene Brown’s books.
The elusive creative genius
If our purpose is to create, why should that be so daunting? Elizabeth Gilbert talked about creativity after she had experienced great success and then figured out what to do next. She said, “Is it logical that anybody should be expected to be afraid of the work that they feel they were put on this Earth to do. And what is it specifically about creative ventures that seems to make us really nervous about each other's mental health in a way that other careers kind of don't do, you know?” This quote was pasted from the transcript by TED.
The pandemic
Elizabeth Gilbert talked for an entire hour with the people of TED after the pandemic started. Folks, listen to Liz Gilbert. Because you should.

Human Potential
Abraham Maslow said, “The key question isn't "What fosters creativity?" But why in God's name isn't everyone creative? Where was the human potential lost? How was it crippled? I think therefore a good question might not be why do people create? But why do people not create or innovate? We have got to abandon that sense of amazement in the face of creativity, as if it were a miracle that anybody created anything.”
Why don’t you make something? Why not? We are capable of so much! We just need to be reminded. Don’t let anyone underestimate your potential. You can create.
Creativity for children
“We are all creative, but by the time we are three of four years old, someone has knocked the creativity out of us. Some people shut up the kids who start to tell stories. Kids dance in their cribs, but someone will insist they sit still. By the time the creative people are ten or twelve, they want to be like everyone else.” - Maya Angelou.
Creating change
“The most talented, thought-provoking, game-changing people are never normal.” - Richard Branson.
Sharing the creative spirit
“Creativity is contagious. Pass it on.” — Albert Einstein. Do you feel inspired to create after all this? Do you want to motivate others to create? Start by sharing these quotes.
