Books to inspire a changed direction in life
Sometimes we need to dramatically change our lives because it is the only way forward. When we reach that fork in the road, inspirational stories and wisdom can help to lead the way. How can we transform our lives? What should we do? How have other people created the new realities that are truly needed? Here is a list of books to inspire and guide on your journey.

Some of these titles are on my wish list after hearing so much wisdom from the authors of the books. This list is also an opportunity for me to discover books for guidance. Hopefully these could help you too.
Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia
Many people have the sort of epiphany where they realise they must bring their lives in a new direction. Eat, Pray, Love is the first story that comes to mind.
Read EPL to experience a woman’s realisation that her life has to change and then her three-part journey into finding more than she was looking for. Who doesn’t know about Eat, Pray, Love? Surely almost everyone would also be aware of Elizabeth Gilbert, the author. EPL is that famous book that was made into a film starring Julia Roberts. This is what the actress said about EPL, “What she does is very courageous and very difficult, though ultimately liberating, and I think we all wish that one day we would feel a certain way about ourselves and really do something about it.”
Liz, as she is known especially in the book, went on to speak and write about creativity. She also writes fiction. Without a doubt, Liz GIlbert is most known for her memoir. There is also a limited edition paperback version with a new-look beautifully illustrated cover.
Eat Pray Love Made Me Do It
EPL has been, “empowering millions of readers to set out on paths they never thought possible.” That official description is spot-on. Fifty fans had the special opportunity of sharing their own stories that were inspired by Eat, Pray, Love. This book celebrated a decade of EPL. It has an influence after even more years. Why not see what other people did in response to EPL - you could see yourself in these other stories too,
Wild: A Journey from Lost to Found by Cheryl Strayed
I heard about Wild through seeing the Gilmore Girls revival. I remember how the characters asked each other whether they were inspired by the film or the book. Apparently that was a very important question. Well, there is a film tie-in edition of the Wild book. Cheryl Strayed experienced great losses before then deciding to hike the west coast of the USA. But what can we learn from this author’s experience of walking through nature across a long distance? How will that story help us to change our own lives? I found more insight from the book’s official web site. Dani Shapiro praised the book as, “A breathtaking adventure tale and a profound meditation on the nature of grief and survival . . .” This could be a guiding light if you are grieving and wondering, ‘What now?’ The site also shares this quote from The Seattle Times, “This isn’t Cinderella in hiking boots, it’s a woman coming out of heartbreak, darkness and bad decisions with a clear view of where she has been.” Sometimes that is what we need - a mindful understanding of the past to more confidently relate to ourselves and the present moment.
Finding Ultra, Revised and Updated Edition: Rejecting Middle Age, Becoming One of the World's Fittest Men, and Discovering Myself by Rich Roll
Rich Roll was walking up the stairs of his house. He realised that was more of a physical challenge than it should be. He knew something had to change. This is why the former lawyer turned to the plant based diet. Rich Roll did more than simply prevent his body from disease. He became an ultra endurance athlete. This book could convince us to rethink our definitions of success and further pursue goals beyond our known potential.
Rich Roll changed more than his health. He created the Rich Roll Podcast to share conversations about health, the environment and more. That podcast became his new career with purpose. If we follow the path that feels truly right and purposeful, it could lead to rewarding places.
Tony Robbins - books including Unshakeable and Life Force
Let’s look at multiple books from Tony Robbins because they share complimentary forms of wisdom. Tony Robbins is a leading “life and business strategist.” I want to read a few books from Tony Robbins because life taught this leader great insight into building meaningful wealth and creating beyond our perceived potential.
The pandemic should inspire us all to live more happily and healthily. This could require new habits and practices. We can pre-order Life Force: How New Breakthroughs in Precision Medicine Can Transform the Quality of Your Life & Those You Love. The new book is about quality and longevity of life. The ideas are aimed to help our energy, immune system and more. Robbins created this book with Peter H. Diamandis, MD and Robert Hariri, MD, PhD. According to the author bio, “Diamandis has degrees in molecular genetics and aerospace engineering from MIT and an MD from Harvard Medical School.” Hariri, “is an accomplished neurosurgeon, biomedical scientist, and serial entrepreneur in biomedicine and aerospace.” Get ready to view health differently.
Meanwhile, the pandemic is impacting many people’s financial circumstances. We needed strategies before this era began. Tony Robbins and Peter Mallouk wrote Unshakeable: Your Guide to Financial Freedom, which was published in 2018, so we can thrive during “market corrections.”
Recovery: Freedom from Our Addictions by Russell Brand
Consider this book even if you do not consume drugs or alcohol. Keep reading! Most people are addicted to something now - social media, coffee, work… At a time when we all need to be more healthy, we may be falling into unhealthy habits when emotionally struggling. These habits could become addictions if they get in the way of everyday life. I already read the written book from this title. But I am now interested in listening to the audio book version. I hope Russell Brand may have used his soothing meditative voice for this recording, like on Above the Noise. I will have to listen and find out. Recovery is written in Russell Brand’s natural conversational style. It is an accessible language for the most humble human. See this if you might be doing too much of something.
