How I regain clarity through wellness habits

Life is transitioning into a new era. This is true for my personal and professional life. The world may be entering a new era too. We need to practice healthy habits that will sustain us through challenges. I believe it is all connected. My mood and energy are supported by wholesome food, mindful spiritual practice, creativity and community.

Be mindful of reality

Mayim Bialik recently said, on her podcast, that experiences happen through us and not to us. I saw that moment on Instagram. The little video clip re-centred my perspective.

What am I going to do for solving my problems? What actions am I taking now? How will I sit with the feelings and experiences that I cannot control? How can I maintain sustainable momentum?

Participate in a local yoga session

I trust the shared energy and social connection of a yoga class. In a very tired week, I relied on yin yoga to focus on consciousness. Some flow helped to literally feel stronger. I am quite a new follower of yoga. Learning. It makes a difference. I know that much.

Rest and then connect with people

I hibernate. It happens when I need to catch up on responsibilities, when I feel too tired or when I need to get my bearings. Figure out the next direction. My hibernation could involve postponing some social opportunities. It could involve staying at home for a day or a few. My hibernations are positive times. Momentarily step back from the myriad of commitments, projects and interests. Prioritise. Then return with a fresh perspective.

Sip a smoothie

A balanced plant based smoothie can uplift my energy and mental clarity.

I try to include fortified soy milk, ground linseed, fruit, some greens and a few nuts. I personally prefer tropical fruits. However you make a dairy-free smoothie, try to include a few different food groups.

Eat healthy comfort foods

Treats are good when they are healthful. I feel uplifted from a balsamic vinegar on wholemeal sourdough bread. I enjoy air-frying potatoes with a small amount of olive oil, iodised salt and rosemary. Healthy swaps feel so good, These simple things nurture the body and mind.
