Getting over the perceived limitation of writer’s block

I’m not a writer. I don’t like too many labels. I like doing all sorts of things. But today I wanted to share something, anything, but thought I had nothing to say. Then I saw a little short video of Shonda Rhimes.

I believe this same advice can be applied to any sort of creating. Just make anything. Why do I make anything? Why do I even make this web site? It feels better than not making something. Particular belief systems teach that we were made to create. We all have an instinct or desire to create something.

“Writer’s block just means you’re not writing. So get off your butt and start writing… There’s no such thing as writer’s block like ‘I’m blocked.’ That kind of talk is what makes it hard for you to write. Just freakin’ write. Doesn’t matter if it’s good. Doesn’t matter if it’s bad. Write something down. I don’t care if it’s a grocery list. There’s no such thing as writer’s block. You just decided that in your head.”

In much of the past few years, I created more of something else. It was food. I now realise that is something to write about. We can share and create anything. Do it.
